I am a high school junior planning to go in to computer science as a career. I've always been interested in the inner workings of software and how to protect against cybersecurity threats. I have done extensive research and taken online classes to learn as much as I can. Over the past few years I have attended computer science camps at the Citadel sponsored by GenCyber and enrolled in a Linux course at Trident Technical College. There is a huge need for girls in STEM and I would like to do my part by joining the tech community and helping other women who are trying to find their place in the industry. I am hoping to raise money to purchase a Dell Vostro 5880 because of it's storage capacity, ram, and the i7 core that I can use to help me on my path. This computer would allow me to download several virtual machines and a variety of coding tools used to practice, including Visual Studio. I would use it to practice coding and learn more about operating systems using VMware or VirtualBox. I also would use it to learn how to defend against cyber attacks, which are an increasing threat against companies in many industries, especially as more people are working from home now. I would be so grateful for any donation that would enable me to get closer to my goal of being a part of the computer science community.
