New Cheer Mats Needed

PLEA FOR HELP

Hi, my name is Kelley, and I’m the mother of a daughter involved in competition cheer.

I’m usually the helper, but this time I’m the one doing the asking. I’m on a serious mission to help our William James Middle School competition cheer girls. The school recently had a wonderful upgrade to their sports facilities…new football field, tennis courts, new baseball and softball fields. Most all equipment is provided for sports teams…but unfortunately, no money is allotted for our cheerleaders. And if anyone has ever watched competition cheer…you know that it IS a tough sport, with lots of concussions and injuries. These girls work their butts off.

Uniforms, camps, and competition fees can cost up to $1000 per season, per cheerleader. That being said, WJMS is a Title 1 School…meaning that a majority of students are in an income bracket that is below norm, and they qualify for free meals. With no help from county/school funding, fundraising is a must in order for some of these deserving girls to be on the team.

The team is in desperate need of new cheer/tumbling mats. They are old & dry rotting and need replacement. New mats will cost anywhere from $7K-10K.

My mission is to help these girls raise this money before Summer practices start. So, we have 2 months to accomplish this goal.

If any local companies are in a position to sponsor, donate, or in need of a tax write off, we would appreciate any amount. These girls love to perform and work very hard at what they do.
