New camera for our beloved Julia
Donation protected
Dear family, friends, and colleagues of Julia,
Julia is turning 50 on the 20th of May. On her 40th birthday, we gave her a Canon 5D Mark II. It's been a great pleasure to see how it enabled her to make art and find work true to her talents. It has been such a joy to see where it has taken her. I guess we always presumed that we would find a way to upgrade by now (the camera has been out of production for eleven years now and has limits compared to newer models that have come through) but have never quite gotten there and then just before Richard died Julia dropped her camera and no longer has a fully functional one of her own.
I and some friends and family want to do a repeat of the 40th birthday gift by trying to gather enough money for a second-hand Fujifilm medium format camera with a simple lens. We’d love her to have a camera that reflects her skill, talent, and years of practice. Even with a second-hand solution, this is too costly to be done in one go by one person so with siblings and friends, we thought the way forward would be a little crowdfund that we could start on Julia’s birthday and keep going until there is enough for us to complete the rest.
The times are not the easiest for anybody, so just as we can’t pull this off now, we understand that among those willing to contribute there could be small contributions like £10 and others will be able to do more. So, for Julia’s 50th birthday, as a group of people who love Julia and her art, we thought of setting up a fund to help her get a new camera. We can contribute whatever we can, no matter how small, to help reach our goal.
This may not be an instant solution, but hopefully it would put Julia in reach to come up with the remainder.
Thank you everyone,
Ville
