Update 07.07.2025, 8:30 am: Just woke up and holy moly! you guys...! <3
I already have more than what I need for the camera and all the necessary accessories. That's why, naturally, I had to stop this campaign. If you want to support my work beyond this fundraiser, feel free to buy any of my patterns.

Also, kindly know that there might be a knitting guild/meet-up in your area. They often knit for charity (chemo hats, etc) and will typically be more than glad if you want to chip in! I, myself, am active in one here in Vienna as well. Feel free to check out our website: yarnpride

Thank you for your overwhelming support. It means a lot to this humble German who stumbled into starting a YouTube channel 5 years ago, not knowing what to expect and how people would receive him.

_______________

Hello! My name is Norman, and I'm the creator behind the popular knitting YouTube channel "NimbleNeedles." Unfortunately, my camera just broke down and I can't afford a new one.

Since 2020, I have made it my mission to provide you with expert knitting tutorials, along with fun tips and tricks. Almost all of my videos include additional bonus material in written form on my blog, and many of them even feature free patterns. I also strive to upload custom subtitles for each video using clear and easily distinguishable colors so that even those with visual impairments can benefit from my content.

Over the past five years, not a single one of my videos has been interrupted by sponsorship messages. I purchase all the needles, yarn, and gadgets I review myself because I believe that true independence allows me to share honest and unfiltered opinions.

It’s my sincere belief that knitting knowledge should be accessible to everyone, regardless of where you come from or your financial situation. I learned so much for free from the generation before me, and I wish to pass that knowledge on to the next generation without asking for money.

However, that is precisely what I need to do now. YouTube alone doesn't pay enough (currently around $2,800 per month before taxes and expenses) to cover all my bills. In fact, it barely covers my studio and office rent, along with all the other big and small expenses.

Recently, I accidentally dropped my camera. Although it's a sturdy model, I bought it used after my previous one was stolen on the train, and unfortunately, this fall seems to have caused significant damage. The display on the back is permanently broken, and while that might be fixable, the fall also damaged the chip, rendering the camera unable to process input from the lens properly. Sadly, it's beyond repair.

Right now, I cannot afford to replace my camera. The model I used to record all the free content for my main and second YouTube channels costs €6,800. I will also need some spare batteries, a new charger, a new camera grip, and new SD cards. I have been working with my old model for 5 years, and the industry standards have changed in the meantime, rendering my old equipment useless.

I know this is a lot to ask, and launching this campaign has felt like a failure on my part, requiring a great deal of courage. However, I hope that if even a small percentage of my 250,000 subscribers could spare just a dollar, it would allow me to continue creating videos. Thank you for your support!
