New Brighton High School Class of 1975 – 50th Reunion Legacy Scholarship
Can’t make the reunion? You can still celebrate with us by giving back.
Hi, my name is Jeff McMurdy, proud alumnus of New Brighton High School and member of the Class of 1975.
This year, the New Brighton High School Class of 1975 will celebrate our 50th reunion on September 19–20, 2025. It’s hard to believe it’s been half a century since we walked across the stage, diplomas in hand, full of dreams for the future.
Even if you're a NBHS alum from a different year, we would certainly still appreciate your support!
We still remember those Friday nights under the lights, cheering on the Lions in crimson and gold. The buzz in the hallways before a big game. The teachers who pushed us harder than we wanted at the time, but who believed in us more than we believed in ourselves. Those moments shaped who we are—and they connect us to every New Brighton student who has walked the halls since.
As we gather to reminisce, laugh, and reconnect, we also want to give back to the community that gave us so much. That’s why we are creating the New Brighton High School Class of 1975 Legacy Scholarship.
This scholarship— we hope to raise at least $1,000—will be awarded to a deserving member of the Class of 2026, the graduating class 50 years after us.
To apply, students must write an essay (500–1000 words) answering:
“What would you want your legacy to be in 50 years, and why?”
It’s a question that invites them to dream about their impact, just as we once did.
Essays will be due November 3, 2025, and the scholarship will be awarded shortly after.
Even if you can’t attend our reunion in person, or you graduated from NBHS in a different year, you can still be a vital part of the celebration. By contributing to this fund, you’ll not only join your classmates in spirit, but you’ll also help a worthy New Brighton High School student pursue their education and build a future.
This is our chance to come together as a class—whether near or far—to leave a mark that will last long after the reunion is over.
Please consider donating to the Class of 1975 Legacy Scholarship.
Together, let’s honor our roots, celebrate 50 years, and give the gift of opportunity to the next generation of New Brighton Lions.
Thank you for helping us make this dream a reality. Your support means the world to me and to the future Lions who will carry on our legacy.
