Gear for Bay Area Youth Kayak Polo Club
Tax deductible
What if you combined the outdoor sport of kayaking with the competitiveness of water polo??? Well you'd have Kayak Polo! Our family had never heard of it, but thanks to the Bay Area Kayak Polo Club, our middle school student is now an avid kayaker and player of the game! The Bay Area Kayak Polo Club has youth classes that serve Middle and High School students, teaching them how to kayak AND play the exciting game of kayak polo! (Here is their website to see what they're all about: https://www.bayareakayakpolo.com/youth-team.) The team practices in the San Leandro High School pool and plays in tournaments around the Bay Area. This summer they have the opportunity to go as far as Canada! This club is an excellent opportunity for so many students. I can't tell you enough about what it has done for our own middle schooler's self-esteem, strength, and ability to connect to new friends. It is also all inclusive with low registration fees and all gear supplied.
Speaking of gear, the youth team is using older kayaks in desperate need of repair or replacement (some need to be retired permanently). Many of their boats have damage and are staying afloat with help from duct tape. The team is fundraising to purchase up to 10 gently used high-performance kayaks with your contributions. (Here are the details on the boats: http://www.dpp-dynamic.com/3-dynamic/7-dynamic-diamond-2-medium.html.) These will keep them up to speed when competing (literally, they need speed to compete!). Your consideration is much appreciated and will make a difference for youth in the years to come. Just imagine a middle schooler, new to the sport, climbing into that kayak for the first time...they couldn't do it without you! Thank you so much!
