New Beginnings- A journey in sobriety and recovery for Audrey Kary

We are reaching out on behalf of our friend Audrey. I’d like to start off by saying that this is delicate and I’m so touched by Audrey’s humility to be open with her story and for her willingness to receive help because I know myself as a person who once struggled with drug addiction, just how very hard this can be. I pray that we all honor her in the process and keep her in our prayers.

Audrey is a single Mom who has battled alcoholism for the last few of years. Last summer she decided to go to an in-patient rehab facility and came back with a renewed desire to be sober, take new and wonderful wellness steps and that’s exactly what she did. But as many addicts and loved ones of addicts know, it is an ongoing battle as real life hits outside the facility walls.

Recently, Audrey fell and lost a battle and the consequences have been intense. She lost her job because of it, is dealing with those repercussions and now has to figure out as a single Mom how they’re going to make it.

I believe that though Audrey lost this battle, she will win the war… but she needs our help to be strengthened and to continue to fight.

Audrey is taking responsibility and ownership and humbly allowing others to come along side her. She deeply desires to be in God’s will for her life and the life of her son. She is currently in weekly AA, IOP, Celebrate Recovery meetings, therapy and is also in the process of being connected with others in our church that have faced the same battles. Several sisters in Christ are also coming along side her to encourage her and help her through this time.

As friends of Audrey, my husband, Jon, and I feel that one way we can help come along side her and her son and help open space for Audrey to receive what God is pouring into her right now, be focused on sobriety and wellness, hear from God what her next steps are and stay strong is to lighten a bit of the financial burden that she is right now facing. As a single Mom and with her son being out of school soon, she has a lot to figure out. She may even need to take a totally new career path for a time but she is being prayerful about it all. There are a lot of layers and factors to consider when you are a single-Mom as some of you may know very well.

We are raising here to help Audrey with bills and living expenses for the next couple of months to start. All money donated will be linked to an account that Jon and I hold. In other words, we will be receiving the funds on behalf of Audrey and helping her take care of everything she needs to with the money raised. If you have any questions about this, please feel free to reach out to one of us personally.

We appreciate any and all the help you are willing to give and as you may personally know, whether in your own story or coming along side a loved one, just how needed others are in the journey of addiction. I am witnessing so much of God’s love, grace, accountability and help already in Audrey’s story and would love you to be a part of it if you so feel led. Please lift them in prayer, we believe God is doing mighty things. I know how hard and humbling this dependence on God and others is and we are so pleased that Audrey is willing. I know she is deeply, deeply thankful.

Note: Some may want to donate through other means to avoid the fees of Go Fund Me and we did consider this but due to the circumstances at hand, it is much better for us and the integrity of the fundraiser to keep track of everything if we stick with Go-Fund-Me alone. Thank you for understanding.
