Meet Luna, a loving 8yr old Palomino mare. Luna has landed at Ranches on Rodeo in hopes we will be able to help her.
After being severely neglected Luna was given a second chance with a friend of Ranches on Rodeo. Unfortunately, our wonderful friend found themselves in a position that has made it impossible for them to continue her upkeep and rehab. This is where we are stepping in. Our hearts can't say no to such a sweet horse who desperately needs immediate help.
Luna's feet are causing her a great deal of pain and needs attention ASAP. We believe she has severe Laminitis (severely over grown and neglected hooves) in her front 2 feet. This this is not a professional diagnosis as we need to get a vet out to her as soon as possible. We had a phone consultation with a vet regarding her conditions and were advised that at the minimum she will need 6 X-rays total (3 on both front feet), worming, updating her on shots, fattening up on a weight gainer, and several farrier appointments. This is just the beginning of the basic necessities to get her on the road to recovery. Luna has a long road ahead of her. We are praying she doesn't have any lingering effects of neglect, but it is a possibility. She will need on going care.
Luna has the sweetest disposition. Her eyes have so much expression and she loves to be loved. This gentle girl is wonderful with children, she doesn't buck or rear, and never bites. This horse is a good girl who needs to be saved and to be given another chance at a pain free life. If ever there were a horse to deserve another chance its Luna!
This is where our hearts are bigger then our wallets. Luna's bills to recovery are going to be extensive and potentially on going, but we don't know until we can see the vet. We only want what is best for Luna, so please know that all donated funds will go directly to her care.
We appreciate any bit of help you are able to give this deserving girl and we will post updates frequently.
No donation is too small and thank you so much for your generosity!
