New Arms For Bash

It's that time again! Bash Hagelin is beginning a series of major arm surgeries. Bash was born with a rare condition called Arthrogryposis, causing stiff joints and weak muscles. The way his upper body is affected, he lacks proper biceps and shoulder muscles so he can not lift his arms. Additionally, Bash's elbows cannot straighten past 90 degrees. At 10 years old, Bash is severely limited in his ability to function independently for basic human needs, including self-care, eating, dressing himself, toileting and mobility.
Now with cutting edge procedures from limb difference specialist surgeon Dr David Feldman , Bash has a chance to not only get more range of motion in his elbow but also to transfer his lat (back muscle) into his arm to create a bicep. The implications of these new arms for Bash are HUGE! For the first time, he will be able to bring his hands to his mouth and face without support or bending over. Bash is at an age where independence is crucial and Dr. Feldman believes that his kind of surgical intervention is most effective before puberty.
Now is the time, and we once again ask for your help to support Bash in his Journey to Bendiness for a quantum leap in his recovery. Two years ago, Bash underwent a massive double leg surgery, completely overhauling his lower body. It was very trying times, but the combination of your support, hard work and his unbreakable spirit led to a revolution in his mobility and physical power. Bash loves what he gained from his leg surgeries; riding a bike for the first time, playing soccer, ascending stairs and sitting comfortably with his new 70 to 90 degree range of motion in his knees. (Compared to his 10 and 20 degree arch before surgery.)
Bash's leg surgeries were such a success because of his hard work in physical therapy, and the alternative methods (made possible by your donations) that have proved successful time and time again for his healing advantage. Bash's condition causes inflammation and stiffness, especially after surgery. It is a constant fight to keep his "bendiness" everyday. One of the cornerstones of his Healing Advantage is a completely pain-free soft-tissue release called CranioSacral Therapy (CST).
When Bash was born, CST gave Bash's parents a glimmer of hope where there had been none. After his diagnosis at 9 days old, the prognosis from Bash's doctors was grim, stating he would never walk or get better, and yet Bash had instant results with CranioSacral Therapy, gaining more movement and new muscle softness after his first session at 3 months old.
