Help Support Patti Morgart on Her Journey to a Life-Saving Lung Transplant

12/10/25 UPDATE:

Patti and I spoke on the phone last evening. They had just taken her completely off oxygen! Incredible! It has been six years since she has been able to sustainably be off oxygen. We chatted for 20 minutes, and her stats were still at 95%. We cried, laughed, and gave thanks. To get new lungs, a new lease on life, there are no words to express how amazing things are going right now.

She is making such wonderful progress now, but we all know there are still challenges ahead-mentally, physically, emotionally, and financially. Patti wanted to share that she knows what a blessing this is. Knowing there are so many people out there who have given such tremendous support to her and her loved ones during this time. She is so grateful for all the prayers and donations and knows what a gift this is.

12/5/25 UPDATE: Patti is recovering well. She has slowly been able to be off of the high flow breathing machine and is in the process of working her way off it hopefully permanently. She has been able to talk a bit and eat. YAY. They are looking at moving her out of ICU as soon as a bed becomes available. Such terrific news! It is early days, but her strength and faith are shining through. Thank you all for your support!

UPDATE: Patti was blessed to receive donor lungs. Our hearts and prayers go out to the donor's loved ones.

Doctors began the surgery the evening of 11/30/25 and completed it the morning of 12/1/25 after about 12 hours in the OR. Everything went very well and she is currently recovering in ICU. A testament to the amazing medical team and to her strength! Hopefully they will be able to remove the breathing tube today.

Hello, and thank you for being here. This page has been created to support Patti Morgart, a truly beautiful and resilient woman who was diagnosed with Scleroderma six years ago.

Scleroderma is a rare autoimmune disease that causes the body to overproduce collagen, leading to thickening and scarring of the skin and connective tissues. In Patti’s case, the disease has progressed aggressively, affecting major organs including her lungs, heart, and kidneys.

Over the past six weeks, Patti’s health has declined rapidly, and she is now hospitalized in Salt Lake City, Utah, more than 10 hours from her home in Idaho. Her only path back home—and back to a fuller life—is a bilateral lung transplant.

On Thanksgiving Day, Patti received the long-awaited news that she has officially been listed for a lung transplant. While this is an incredible blessing, it also brings significant challenges and financial burdens. To remain eligible for the transplant and recovery process, Patti must:

• Stay within one hour of the transplant hospital for at least nine months after surgery

• Have a dedicated 24-hour caregiver and a backup caregiver throughout that time

• Manage the extensive medical, travel, and living costs of remaining far from home

All funds raised will go directly toward supporting Patti during this critical time—covering medical expenses, relocation and living costs required to stay near the hospital, and ensuring she has the caregivers she needs for a safe recovery.
