Never Had a Bad Time- For CAMH

Donation protected

On Sunday December 9th many of us lost someone very close to us due to a very tragic, unexpected event. Eric Clegg was only 26 years old when he decided to end his own life, for reasons we may never fully understand. For those of you who did not know Eric or as we all called him Clegg; he was someone who would walk into a room and instantly put a smile on every single persons face. I have yet to meet someone who did not fall right in love with his charming personality and charisma as soon as they met him. His spontaneity was envied by all and his ability to turn everything into a joke was one of his best qualities. Although his time with us was short lived it was full of adventure. Clegg experienced more in his last 2 years than many people do in a lifetime. He cared deeply about his friends and family which is why this came as a shock to everyone. You never know what demons someone is facing behind closed doors and to say that Eric didn't deserve any of those thoughts is an understatement.

Together we have decided that raising money for CAMH ( Centre of Addiction and Mental Health) was something that would benefit everyone greatly.  Not many people understand mental health and raising money for CAMH will not only help fund research but also help transform the way communities treat suicide. In honour of Clegg we have named this GoFundMe page "Never Had A Bad Time".  Not only did he always use this phrase but it describes how he lived each day.

According to The Canadian Association of Suicide Prevention, "Today in Canada 10 people will end their lives by suicide; up to 200 others will attempt to do so." Its all around us and we need to help raise awareness about mental health and how important it is to ask one another if we are okay.

Our goal is to raise $5,000 for CAMH, but if you for any reason do not have money to donate do not feel ashamed. Simply sharing this page on either facebook or any other social media platform is help enough.

Now that we have exceeded our goal, we have decided to give CAMH $12,000. We will personally be bringing the funds directly to CAMH in Toronto. The remainder will be given to the Clegg Family in order to release his ashes in his favorite country.

We all love you Clegg, and miss you more than words can explain. You've changed many peoples lives for the better and left a big footprint on all our hearts.  If we can take one life lesson from all this, it would be to keep our arms and ears open for anyone in need. Be kind, be loving and never take your loved ones for granted.

On behalf of all of Eric Clegg's friends and family, thank you for taking the time to read this.
