Never had a bad day

My dear friend Ken Johnson is valiantly battling cancer. While the insidious tumors in his neck, lungs, and stomach try to pull him under, knowing his daily struggle just to stay afloat is even more heart wrenching. Ken, or KJ to his friends and frenemies alike, has been living out of his car in San Diego for the past 2 1/2 years. Between chemotherapy, radiation, and follow up visits with his oncology team and primary care physician, his course of treatment is a full time job. And despite all of that, every time I call and ask how he is doing he always responds "Never had a bad day in my life!"
Like most of the friends that I can count on one hand, I met KJ a little over 30 years ago in a neighborhood pub called The Field House located in Lincoln Park, Chicago. He also haunted Ravens and Parrots. And if you ever had the good fortune to run into him he most assuredly bought you a round. So now it’s time to return the favor! Give a little or give a lot, just help a brother out!
I’m putting his Mother, Daughter and Sister in charge of this account so please only write encouraging words.
