Nevada’s Recovery Journey

My name is Mandy and my husband Nevada was in a near death, head-on collision, automobile accident with a semi on Friday September 29th at 7am. The total impact speed from both his car and the semi was between 125 and 135 miles per hour. He is in critical condition and on life support fighting for his life!

Nevada sustained so many serious injuries to his body that including lacerated liver, damaged pancreas and spleen, damage to his aorta around his heart, a broken shoulder, a broken sternum, 2 broken femurs and a broken tibia in his legs, dislocated hip, as well as majority of his ribs being broken. Those are just a few of the major injuries the doctors have identified so far, however, they suspect other smaller fractures in his hands and maybe feet.

Emergency surgeries have been performed on his liver and pancreas to stop internal bleeding as well as repair & support procedures to drain them. They have also done surgery to temporarily set the major bones in his legs for now.

Nevada will have a very long road to recovery, at least a year is what has been projected and will be in the hospital for an unknown amount of time right now.

We are raising money to help our family sustain our home during Nevada’s recovery journey so that we have a home he can come home to.

Nevada and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary last Monday, September 25th, and have worked so hard to start our new lives together. We both had to start over from scratch and have worked so well as a team to get where we are. Nevada is a painter and drywall expert and I work as a clerk for a shipping and receiving company. That being said, we depend on each other as a team to pay our bills each month and we do a wonderful job at that. However, it is paycheck to paycheck and I don’t make enough money to cover the bills on my own. I’m also on short term disability myself until January and only get a portion of my pay. This makes it even harder to cover bills.

The money donated will be used to directly pay for rent, utilities, insurance and car payment, wedding ring payment, phone bill, internet, a very low food budget and gasoline. These bills are at a minimum $3000 a month. I’m asking for help to pay what Nevada’s wage contributed to our household because this lost wage means we lose everything if we don't get help.

If 420 people donated $50 that covers the need for an entire year! It’s just an example but I know there are way more than 400 people involved and praying for Nevada and I know some can’t help but it’s a wonderful example that shows just how doable this is when a lot of people come together to help a little!
