Nevada Voice: Bridging the Education Divide
Tax deductible
The Nevada Voice is a state-wide, multimedia, mission-driven journalism project giving voice to all education stakeholders, bridging the divide between policymakers, business people, and people in schools - including teachers, students, support staff, admin and parents.
The approach of the Nevada Voice is to combine conversation with reportage. We’re less interested in doing stories “about” people and more interested in doing stories “with” people - empowering them to talk about their issues and concerns, and listen to the issues and concerns of others. In the era of social media, journalism audiences are no longer passive receivers. We aim to make them a vital part of the conversation.
The Nevada Voice is run by Carrie Kaufman, a distinguished journalist with a long history of entrepreneurship. Carrie started PerformInk, a theatre and film newspaper in Chicago, which was published for over 20 years. She then moved into radio, hosting the morning shows at Nevada Public Radio and Wisconsin Public Radio before heading back to Vegas to bring life to an idea she has had since 2014: taking a regular, deep dive into education in Nevada.
An undertaking like this means regular support. To pay for studio time. To pay for equipment. To pay professional, community and student journalists (yes, we are planning to pay students, too), to do weekly podcasts, to sponsor town halls, and to support good, in-depth journalism.
Please help us get started with a generous one-time gift.
Or become a member, via our Patreon .
Nevada Voice runs under the fiscal sponsorship of the Moonridge Group, a non-profit Nevada Corporation.
If you would like to be a part of Nevada voice, or would simply like to talk to Carrie about issues or suggest topics, please head to nevadavoice.org to contact us.
And thank you!
