Neurospark - An all in one ADHD management tool

Donation protected
Hi everyone!

My name is Fin (Finlay Spenceley), and I'm the sole developer behind a new app I'm incredibly passionate about, currently called NeuroSpark. This project started from a very personal place, born out of my own experiences and challenges navigating life with ADHD, especially after being diagnosed as an adult.

Like many with ADHD, I've struggled with time management, maintaining focus, and the overwhelming feeling of a brain that's always "on." I found that existing tools and apps often fell short, working for a week or two before I became desensitised to their notifications and repetitive nature. It felt like constantly swimming upstream. During a coaching session, a simple idea sparked: what if I could build a tool tailored specifically to the ADHD experience, something that understood our unique needs for novelty, customisable support, and a way to manage the constant flow of thoughts and tasks?

That idea grew from a personal project to help myself into something I now believe can genuinely help many others. NeuroSpark (though the name will change before official release due to a trademark) is designed to be an all-in-one toolkit focusing on task management, focus enhancement, thought organisation, and smart, anti-habituation notifications. It's built with features like:

  • Visual Timers: Over 10 unique visualisations to represent time passing, reducing fixation on numbers and offering novelty.

  • Auto-Rotating Timers: To combat desensitisation and keep things engaging.

  • Floating Timers: Minimal, non-intrusive ways to keep track of time without being overwhelmed.

Minimal Timer:

  • Physiological Reminders: Gentle nudges for body-based needs like hydration and movement, which can often be forgotten during hyper-focus.

  • A "Thoughts" System: A dedicated space to capture those brilliant (but distracting!) ideas that pop up, so you can stay on task without fear of forgetting.

  • Highly Customisable Notifications: Including an "Annoy Mode" to gently keep tasks top-of-mind without becoming another ignored alert.

Why is this so important to me?

Living with ADHD, and learning about it as an adult, has been a journey of understanding and self-discovery. Building NeuroSpark has been a huge part of that. I've poured my time, energy, and what I've learned about ADHD – both scientifically and personally – into creating something I wish I'd had years ago. My goal isn't to "fix" ADHD, because that's not how it works. It's about providing a supportive, non-intrusive tool that helps manage daily life, reduces cognitive load, and empowers users to work with their brains, not against them.

I believe this app has the potential to make a real difference for the ADHD community, offering practical support in a way that's accessible and genuinely helpful.

How the funds will be used:

As a solo developer, bringing an app from concept to a polished, publicly available product involves various costs. Your generous donations will directly support:

  • Development Costs: This includes covering the Apple Developer Program fees, which are necessary to get the app verified and onto the App Store for beta testing and eventual release.
  • Software & Tools: The ongoing costs of the coding software and other development tools, financial and project management software.
  • My Time: Allowing me to dedicate more focused time to development, bug fixing, incorporating beta tester feedback, and adding new, community-requested features.
  • Future Enhancements & Expertise: Longer-term, I hope to secure enough funding to potentially bring on other developers or specialists to help streamline the process, expand features, and ensure the app is as robust and user-friendly as possible.
  • Marketing & Outreach: To help let people know that NeuroSpark exists and can support them.
  • Domain + Website Hosting: This is for creating the dashboard, info and sales page for the app and to start creating an online presence.
  • Trademarking: This allows me to secure the name and protect the app name and logos.

My ultimate intention is to create a V1 of NeuroSpark that is well-tested, genuinely useful, and something the community is happy with. I want to keep the app as affordable as possible, with any profits reinvested back into its development and improvement. This beta program and your support are crucial first steps in making that happen.

Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant impact and will go directly towards making this toolkit as impactful as possible for the ADHD community. Thank you for believing in this project and for being part of this journey with me.

All the best,

Fin (Finlay Spenceley)
