Homeless fund for my family with disabilities
Donation protected
Thank you for your generous donations toward our Neurology fundraiser. We are still waiting on further testing as wait times here are exceptionally long. So far, every, single cent ($3,000) has gone towards private Neurology testing and medical appointments and we couldn't have come this far without you.
Now, we face another obstacle and I've changed our fundraiser to reflect our upcoming situation. In August, we'll be homeless.
Our goal is to raise enough funds to cover either the purchase of a caravan or short term accommodation. We'll be facing harsh conditions in the middle of winter, which will be hard with our disabilities. We won't always have access to running water and power which is a daunting prospect to face. I have to admit, I'm scared for us. But especially for my children. The housing crisis here is putting downward pressure on a lot of people so I know we aren't alone in this.
My kids both need Occupational Therapy and Exercise Physiology as well as their specialist appointments. But, being homeless means they'll go without these services.
We have no family here for support.
We are in Category 1 for public housing but were told it's around five years wait for accommodation.
Right now, I'm sorting and packing, ready to place our belongings into storage in July. For our last few weeks at the rental, we'll sleep on camp beds ready for the transition to homelessness.
I feel like I've failed my family. Being a single mum is hard at the best of times. But this... this is a different beast altogether.
We'd be eternally grateful if you could share our fundraiser.
Thank you for your kindness and support.
