It Takes a Village!
Donation protected
From May 26 - June 6, in celebration of turning 50 and completing my Ph.D., 24 of my friends and I will venture to Ghana to reconnect with our African heritage and experience what the country offers. During this trip, there are two missions we want to accomplish.
Mission 1: Provide essential hygiene items for the children of Ghana.
Mission 2: Supply 100 students with a new desk.
Currently, children in Kumasi (the capital of the Ashanti region) lack soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, hair care items, and, most importantly, feminine hygiene products for young girls. Also, the student to desk ratio is lacking. Many children must learn while sitting on a concrete floor for an extended period. These factors create challenges in learning and hinder forward movement for the student.
Expenses:
- Each desk seats two students and costs $65.00. Our goal is to purchase 50 at the cost of $3,250.
- The remaining $1,750 will go towards the purchase of essential hygiene items.
- All monies received above the goal will be evenly distributed between the two missions.
Your donation will better accommodations within the schools and help the children feel like their best selves. I really appreciate any help you can provide.
