S.H.T.T.
(So Here’s The Thing)

My name is Netta Short Arellano.
In May 2017, I was diagnosed with a very rare cancer. Stage 4. Not a lot of options. I am NOT devastated. I am a fighter. I am not patient. I have to do something. While my doctors are trying to figure out a course of action (their current suggestions will cripple me immediately and not extend my life), I am jumping on planes to break the news to my family and seek out other doctors. I realized that I have a wonderful problem. I have so many people in my life that love me, that I have spent hours and hours everyday breaking the news to my friends. I am overwhelmed and exhausted and sick of crying already.

FUCK CANCER!!!!

I NEED SOMETHING ELSE TO FOCUS ON. So, I want to have ONE of my dying wishes come to fruition. I want to help my brother.

Peter is my youngest brother and he is a very private person with 4 beautiful children. He joined the US Army at 17 years old and spent 14 years in service. 10 of those years he was in the Special Forces as a Green Beret Medic. I do not know that much about it, and for a variety of different reasons he doesn’t talk about it very much. He has worked as a medical salesperson since he got out of the Army and attempted to launch his own company to be closer to home and not travel as much. Due in part to a divorce and taking care of our Dad during his final months, his company failed and now his mortgage has not been paid for quite a while. He bought his home in 2003 and has been restoring it with beautiful wood work. The house is the only thing besides his children that he fought for in the divorce. In September 2017 his house will be auctioned off unless he comes up with $30,000. He has told very few people about his situation and is not the type of person to ask for help. The only reason he agreed to this was, well, I asked him if I could. He can’t really say no to me right?

Everyone asks how they can help.

Do you have too much stuff? We live in a land of abundance. So much so that we have to pay extra for diet food. How ironic. Anyway, I am asking for either cash donations or for you to contact me to donate a perk to this campaign.

Almost everyone has something of value that they no longer use. Perhaps you have a service business, like photography, that you can offer a session. Feel free to contact me at [email redacted] if you would like to help by adding a perk for this and of course any cash donations are greatly appreciated.

All proceeds will go to Peter and the kids to save their home.

I'm not going to lie. I'm scared.
I've been hyper-focused on the grim details and the prospect of saving my brother's home as my last wish fills me with so much life. This gives me something to be excited about and look forward to.

Anything you can contribute means the world to me and will bring me joy in this dark time.

Thank you
