On the morning of Friday 12/13, the Net Effect, a 65-foot commercial fishing boat, capsized at the Ventura Harbor.
A wave hit the vessel broadside & within seconds, the boat capsized. Water started rushing in while now upside down. Disoriented and in the dark, those inside found themselves needing to swim out for their lives while fighting for air. Most making it out thru small windows that had broken from the pressure of water bursting in.
All onboard made it out, but not without having to escape a terrifying, life-threatening situation to survive.
Thankfully, there was another fishing vessel close by that assisted with getting the crew out of the cold water until harbor patrol arrived.
Losing everything onboard: electronics, wallets/ids, collections of sentimental items, work clothing & gear. Lost wages & financial help for the coming weeks, are all some of what we are trying to recoup.
We are so grateful for any donations, thoughts & calls of support. We are so relieved & happy to have the outcome that everyone made it out alive.
Thank you thank you thank you
