Our nine year-old daughter Olivia died of an incurable brain cancer on January 16th, 2019.
Olivia was an extraordinary human being who left a deep imprint in the lives of everyone she touched. Her absence has been felt far and wide. During her life and hospitalization she taught us so much about living life fully, being true to oneself, having courage in the face of hardship, all with continued grace.
We would like to honor Olivia with “a nest” to be built by Jayson Fann, renowned Big Sur artist and musician, (with participation from the 4th grade and other friends.) The nest will be constructed of redwood branches and will be located in the lower playground at Carmel River Elementary. Our hope is that it will be a place for her friends, and other children, to connect with her, have a moment of peace, prayer, or meditation. This will be a sweet memory of Olivia at Carmel River.
One of the things we learned in this past year is that Olivia's LOVE is bigger than her loss. The love she had for everyone, life, and the world we live in. This is her legacy. We would like to show her OUR love with this Memorial. Please join us in making this a reality. Any amount is greatly appreciated.
All funds will be used to pay Jayson Fann for the building of this installation. He will be starting work mid-January 2020. The funds will be used for collecting materials, purchasing tools, an additional worker, and the time and skill it takes to build these nests.
