Nesbitt Pond Town Land Eagle Scout Project
Donación protegida

My name is Elijah “Eli” Tetreault and I am a local 16 year old Eagle Scout candidate from the town of Lebanon. I enjoy hiking, kayaking, biking and camping outdoors with friends. I have been with the scout troop 369 for 8 years in total (starting as a cub scout, and made my way up to boy scout) and have dedicated many hours to my troop.
Eli's Eagle Scout project will benefit the Lebanon Conservation Commission and in turn the Lebanon community.
The Lebanon Conservation Commission was re-formed in April 2013 by the town selectmen. A Conservation Commission is an advisory board charged with educating community members about local environmental issues, advising elected officials regarding environmental policies and practices, and organizing and implement initiatives that address community environmental concerns.

When researching different Eagle Scout projects I approached the Commission. I was particularly interested in how I could improve the area at Nesbitt pond. Nesbitt pond itself is a “Kettle Hole” which is a geographical feature formed when a Glacier melts for a long period of time in a particular spot. Nesbitt pond is town-owned land for maintaining water quality, and is managed jointly by the Conservation Commission and Planning Board. As it exists to get to the waters edge you have to walk through a marsh and there wasn't much for a parking area. The Commission voiced that they wanted to be able to one day test the depth and water quality of Nesbitt, and I thought it would be nice to canoe and fish in. Thus, developed our plan. I will be organizing volunteers to build and assemble a set of stairs, boardwalk to the water's edge, sign, and improve parking at Nesbitt pond. This will hopefully allow it to have increased further recreational use, since it is a beautiful piece of conserved land.
We have thirty days to earn $2000. Please consider donating to funding my Eagle Scout project to make this land more accessible to the community. I feel strongly that the community would benefit from having another area people could go to fish and canoe, and I think I could make this area have easier access for the public. All funds will go directly to the project and beneficiary; the Lebanon Conservation Commission.
Any little bit will help. Please consider donating to help fund this project. It will give area families a new accessible water recreation area. It really means a lot to me, thank you. -Elijah Tetreault
