NEW NERVE PAIN TREATMENT

A little over 12 years ago, I developed unexplained nerve pain in my face. I desperately sought care with the onset of symptoms, but I was blown off by most providers. Eventually, I was misdiagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia. I underwent a surgery to decompress the nerve, and I crashed in surgery twice in late 2006. I have been seen by The Cleveland Clinic and Duke with no real relief. This has been a living hell at times. It is a very rare condition. Recently, a new product has been introduced to the market. It is a device that is implanted on the damaged nerve to help block the pain signal and improve my quality of life. I had worked until the last three months, but I have experienced a significant flare in pain. This treatment is being studied at five US institutions. It has already been used in a few patients like me. And, it is the best hope I have for relief. I have spent most of my earnings over the years to manage and try to heal. I so desperately want to live a better life.  I would be so grateful for any help. It is truly humbling and very difficult to ask friends and family to help me. But, if it appears I am a candidate for this treatment, I do not have insurance that allows me to see doctors in other states. The physicians are located outside of Kentucky. Therefore, I will likely need to pay out of pocket for care.
