Neptune’s ER fund

Hi hello hey.

This little guy’s name is Neptune (well, he’s actually kind of a big guy).

Dana and I adopted him May 2018 not knowing what to expect since we’ve never owned a cat before, but it turned out that adopting him was easily one of the best decisions we’ve ever made. It wasn’t before long that the soft hum of his purr became a semblance of serotonin, or the perfect loaf form would make us smile and stop whatever we were doing to try and snap a picture. There’s something special about cats that is beyond what we expected.

Neptune recently went to the vet to get his routine check up and vaccines, but upon bringing him home, we noticed that he was hiding in the closet, unwilling to move from his spot. After a few hours he vomited and couldn’t breath properly, so we decided to take him to the ER.

After the examination they couldn’t exactly determine what was wrong with him, but they hypothesized that he had an adverse reaction to one of the vaccines which caused him to aspirate the vomit into his lungs. The fluid that built up in his lungs in turn led to pneumonia.

Neptune is currently high off sedatives and hasn’t stopped blepping in his little oxygen chamber.

He’s currently still in the ER and will most likely be staying for a little while for close monitoring. They have been giving him steroids and different type of medications to try to treat him and his condition. The vets estimated his total treatment cost to be somewhere around $4,000 - $5,000. Of course, we’d be willing to spend any amount of money to get him better — I’d probably even sell a kidney for this baby. Dana also recently got laid off of her job since they closed the lab branch she worked at, so any amount would help.
