NEPAL. Never Ending Peace and Love
Donation protected
In 2019 we headed out to Nepal the start of a very big adventure. We spent 6 weeks out there and it didn't take us long to fall in love with the country and its people. For the best part of two weeks we trekked to Annapurna Base camp 5 of us and our beloved 3 porters and our guide. They were more to us than porters and guides, they became family . We cared deeply for them as they cared for us. Arjun, Akash, Ram and Gokarna . Not forgetting Dil at head quarters in Kathmandu. We laughed, talked, shared stories , helped and supported each other. As we got higher and the morning temperatures grew colder we noticed the lack of kit our boys had. The 5 of us made a pact to sort this out when back in Kathmandu. In the meantime we donated our spare gloves . I will never forget Gokarnas face when I gave him my spare gloves. My heart swelled.
Back in Kathmandu we kept our promise and we all donated enough money for the boys to be completely kitted out. We called it the Yak and Yeti fund. This was more than a trek we became family . We met their families and shared food together in their homes.
At the end of our trip we headed to the local climbing wall and again were welcomed with genuine smiles. We shared time with the two girls who worked there Sunita and Geeta. We visited several times and on our last day we drank tea together and they had bought us gifts ,
Fast forward to 2020 as the world was hit by a global pandemic. Our return trip to Nepal cancelled. Covid has had a devastating effect on Nepal as they have lost their whole tourist season which means they have lost all their income . The climbing wall is closed and our beloved boys are struggling to pay for their basics and look after their families. So far we have raised enough money to pay school fees and give each of our boys £100 to get them through the next few weeks. We have also managed to pay a month's rent for one of the girls .
Not only are things desperate because of covid, the monsoons have caused landslides in the villages. Our friend Sunita whose granny is in one of these village lost her home . She is now sheltering in a cow shed until the day they can start earning again .. we simply can't let this happen .
£600 paid for 6 months university fees for two
£32 paid a month's rent .
£100 can help with food and bills for a month .
£3500 will rebuild a house for grandma this includes all labour and materials .
We have raised money so far by donating all the takings from our business for the whole of August .
Jim is selling his home made jam and donated a month's pension.
We will continue to make a 10% donation from every sale of kombucha and vegan baking after August .
But we need some extra help and support to reach £5000 target or more.
If 400 people donated the cost of their take out tea and coffee for a week this would build a house.
Please help us help them .
