The Emergency

On August 26, catastrophic flash flooding swept through the Bhote Koshi river system, severely affecting communities in Nepal’s Rasuwa district and downstream areas.

The flooding and debris have taken lives, damaged or destroyed homes, roads, bridges, power systems, hydropower facilities, and other essential infrastructure. Many families in remote Himalayan communities have been left facing an urgent need for shelter, food, clean water, medical assistance, and other basic necessities.

Difficult terrain, damaged infrastructure, and severe weather are making emergency response and access to affected communities especially challenging.

Karmayog Foundation is raising funds to support people and communities affected by this disaster.

About the Organizer and How Your Donation Will Help

Who I Am

My name is Saurav Rimal, and I'm organizing this fundraising campaign on behalf of Karmayog Foundation. I am the president and lead volunteer currently living in Kathmandu, Nepal, but volunteering in Rasuwa District.

I am organizing this fundraiser to help provide emergency assistance to families and communities affected by the devastating flooding in Nepal and Tibet. The scale of the disaster and the challenges faced by people in remote communities have created an urgent need for humanitarian assistance.

My Relationship to the People We Are Helping

I am not raising funds for myself or for a family member. This campaign is being organized to support people and communities affected by the recent flooding, particularly families who have lost homes, livelihoods, access to transportation, utilities, and other essential services.

Karmayog Foundation is coordinating this fundraising effort to help direct financial assistance toward legitimate emergency and recovery needs in affected communities. Assistance will be based on needs identified on the ground, with particular attention to vulnerable families and communities that are difficult to reach because of damaged roads, bridges, and other infrastructure.

How the Funds Will Be Spent

Funds raised through this campaign will be used exclusively for flood-related humanitarian relief and recovery efforts. Depending on the needs identified in affected communities, funds may be used for:

Emergency food and essential supplies for families who have lost access to necessities.

No funds will be used for personal expenses or purposes unrelated to the flood relief effort.

Because conditions and needs can change rapidly during a disaster, funds may be redirected among these relief categories as necessary to ensure that available resources reach people with the greatest immediate needs.
