Sanjay and I are both former military personnel and now work for Gallagher Ltd. After seeing the devastating impact of the recent floods in Nepal, we felt we could not simply stand by and watch the news unfold. We wanted to take action and do something meaningful to raise both awareness and much-needed funds for those affected.

Within just half an hour, we came up with a challenge that reflects the scale of the journey and the determination required to support Nepal in its time of need.

Nepal holds a special place in Sanjay's heart. Following the devastating earthquake in 2015, he raised an incredible £22,000, with £12,000 donated to Oxfam and £10,000 donated to The Gurkha Welfare Trust. When the latest disaster struck, we both agreed that we had to help once again.

The Challenge

The direct distance from London to Kathmandu is 4,558 miles.

Representing Team Gallagher, we will attempt to run and hike 45.60 miles together within 15 hours, symbolising that journey and demonstrating our commitment to supporting Nepal.

Our route will begin at Lenham Cross on the famous North Downs Way, following the historic Pilgrims' Way to the cathedral city of Canterbury. After a brief stop to refuel and rehydrate, we will turn around and make the return journey to Lenham.

To match the challenge, our fundraising target is £4,560, with all donations going towards Nepal Flood Disaster Relief.

To make the challenge even tougher, we will carry everything we need and complete the route without any support crew or assistance along the way.
