The second wave of COVID-19 cases are skyrocketing in Nepal with daily infection of 9000-10,000 cases being reported everyday. The situation is touted to be worse than India as the number of deaths and infection rapidly climb everyday and Nepal is probably in the brink of a massive crisis with one of the poorest infrastructure and health system to be hit by the second wave of Covid-19. With 0.7 physicians per 100,000 people, bed shortages and limited ICU facilities the situation is catastrophic and needless to say, we will be seeing unprecedented number of deaths due to lack of medical facilities and support in the coming days.
The devastating surge in coronavirus infections has exposed Nepal's dilapidated health infrastructure and a chronic shortage of oxygen – a key treatment for seriously ill COVID-19 patients. Reports have emerged of hospitals asking patients to arrange for their own cylinders and of people dying even after being admitted due to low oxygen supplies
NRNA Australia in collaboration with all Nepali Community Organizations in Australia is making a humble appeal to the wider Nepalese diaspora and our friends in Australia to donate funds to save lives of our brothers and sisters in Nepal.
The fund will be used:
1) To buy concentrators
2) To build Oxygen plant
3) Increase COVID-19 testing regime &
4) Vaccination
