Hello there!

My name is Denni and I am raising funds to help afford my dog/best friend surgery.

Nene is my 5 year old wiener dog (to be 6 this year!) whom I love VERY much. Nene is the sweetest little guy. His loving and friendly personality has captured the hearts and smiles of many.

Nene has been the best emotional support animal in the world. He came to my life when I needed it the most. From living with me at my college dorm, to flying with me to Ecuador, he has truly been the best and has helped me through very dark times. For that, he has a very special place in my heart. I truly feel like he saved me and KEEPS saving me everyday. Today, I need to be the one to save him♥️

A little backstory of what a rollercoaster the past few days have been:

I was working when all of the sudden I heard my pup cry. I then found him shivering, seemed in a lot of pain and was dragging his rear legs. When I took him to the vet, they stated that my dog was "permanently paralyzed, looking very rough, no sign of deep pain sensation, not a good candidate for surgery, and that I needed to start thinking about euthanasia"

This shattered me. I have never experienced such pain in my heart. l didn't think that I was going to have to say goodbye to my best friend so soon. However, I knew I needed to be strong and needed to do more for him.

After a lot of praying, researching and thinking, I decided to take Nene in for a second opinion with a different vet (one that has performed back surgery on doxies before) and after carefully assessing Nene, he told me that my dog has NOT lost all his motor ability nor has he lost his deep pain sensation (Getting there, but has not lost it completely which is a good sign).

Nene is STILL on time for surgery and is a good candidate with 85% chance of full recovery. However, the longer I wait, the lower the chances of recovery. I have scheduled an appointment for friday morning. I don't know what I will do as the surgery is very costly, and I am hoping for a miracle to reach for the initial costs...reason why I am coming to all of you for help. ANY donation is GREATLY appreciated.

Recovery from IVDD surgery requires 6 - 8 weeks of restricted activity combined with appropriate medications to help with pain management and swelling. Nene may also need physical rehabilitation (physical therapy for dogs) to help him recover.

If IVDD surgery is not successful in returning Nene to normal mobility, a dog wheelchair, lots of more love, and a new "normal" would be the next step.

A long journey is ahead of us, but I refuse to give up on my best friend and I am trying all options available.

Mi nombre es Denni y estoy recaudando fondos para ayudar a pagar la cirugía de mi perro/mejor amigo.

Nene es mi perro salchicha de 5 años (¡cumplirá 6 este año! ) a quien quiero MUCHO. Nene es el pequeño más dulce. Su personalidad cariñosa y amistosa ha capturado los corazones y las sonrisas de muchos.

Nene ha sido el mejor animal de apoyo emocional del mundo. Llegó a mi vida cuando más lo necesitaba. Desde vivir conmigo en mi residencia universitaria hasta volar conmigo a Ecuador, realmente ha sido el mejor y me ha ayudado en momentos muy oscuros. Por eso, tiene un lugar muy especial en mi corazón. Realmente siento que me salvó y SIGUE salvándome todos los días. Hoy, necesito ser yo quien lo salve ♥️

Una pequeña historia de lo que ha sido una montaña rusa en los últimos días:

Estaba trabajando cuando de repente escuché llorar a mi cachorro. Luego lo encontré temblando, parecía tener mucho dolor y arrastraba las patas traseras. Cuando lo llevé al veterinario, me dijeron que mi perro estaba "permanentemente paralizado, sin signos de dolor profundo, no era un buen candidato para cirugía y que necesitaba empezar a pensar en eutanasia".

Esto me destrozó. Nunca había experimentado tal dolor en mi corazón. No pensé que tendría que despedirme de mi mejor amigo tan pronto. Sin embargo, sabía que necesitaba ser fuerte y necesitaba hacer más por él.

Después de mucho rezar, investigar y pensar, decidí llevar a Nene a una segunda opinión con un veterinario diferente (uno que ya había realizado cirugías de espalda en doxies antes) y después de evaluar cuidadosamente a Nene, me dijo que mi perro NO ha perdido toda su capacidad motora ni ha perdido su sensación de dolor profundo (Llegando a eso si, pero no la ha perdido por completo, lo cual es una buena señal).

Nene TODAVÍA está a tiempo para la cirugía y es un buen candidato con un 85 % de posibilidades de recuperación total. Sin embargo, cuanto más espero, menores son las posibilidades de recuperación. He agendado una cita para el viernes por la mañana. No sé qué haré ya que la cirugía es muy costosa, y espero un milagro para alcanzar los costos iniciales... razón por la cual acudo a todos ustedes en busca de ayuda. Cualquier donación es muy apreciada.

La recuperación de la cirugía IVDD requiere de 6 a 8 semanas de actividad restringida combinada con medicamentos apropiados para ayudar a controlar el dolor y la hinchazón. Nene también puede necesitar rehabilitación física (terapia física para perros) para ayudarlo a recuperarse.

Si la cirugía IVDD no logra que Nene recupere su movilidad normal, el siguiente paso sería una silla de ruedas para perros, mucho más amor y una nueva "normalidad".

Nos espera un largo viaje, pero me niego a renunciar a mi mejor amigo y estoy probando todas las opciones disponibles.
