There are days or events that mark one's life so profoundly that there is only life before this happened and life after. For our family, May 23, 2021 is such a day. My dad went to the ER to get checked out for fatigue and some heartburn "just to be on the safe side" and an hour later we were told he died of cardiac arrest. We are all still in shock and his last day on earth still haunts us because there was nothing that lead us to believe that there was anything seriously wrong that day. But here we are a couple of weeks later, trying to figure out life without him. Even though he had 3 grown children, each with their own partners and children, he was head of household. We all went to him for help, advise, and encouragement. I'm not sure how we'll recover from such a devastating loss, but we forge ahead as he would tell us to.
Honestly, we initially did not want to start a gofundme campaign, but friends and his colleagues (including members of his Electrical Workers Union) have repeatedly asked and encouraged us to do so to help our mom. We humbly ask for any assistance.
