Hi, my name is Brandy, and I’m asking for help for my sweet 5-year-old Boston Terrier, Nelly.
Nelly is more than just a pet—she’s family. She is also my autistic son’s best friend, his comfort, and a huge part of his everyday life. Their bond is something truly special. She brings him calm, companionship, and unconditional love in a way that’s hard to put into words.
Recently, our world was turned upside down when Nelly was diagnosed with hip dysplasia in both hips and a luxating patella (knee issue).
At first, it was small things—she would occasionally hold up her back leg or struggle after jumping or resting. But now it’s happening more often, and it’s clear she’s in pain.
After vet visits and X-rays, we were told that surgery is the best (and possibly only) option to give Nelly a normal, pain-free life again.
Unfortunately, the cost is overwhelming. Between multiple surgeries, exams, medications, and recovery care, the total is more than I can afford on my own. I do have pet insurance, but because these issues may be considered pre-existing or related, it’s likely that little to none of the cost will be covered.
Nelly is only 5 years old—she should be running, playing, and enjoying life, not struggling to walk or living in pain.
Watching her go through this is heartbreaking—not just for me, but for my son as well. She is his best friend, and seeing her hurt affects him deeply. I just want to do everything I can to keep her healthy, happy, and by his side.
I’m asking for help to cover:
Orthopedic surgery (hip/knee)
Vet visits and diagnostics
Medications and pain management
Recovery and rehabilitation
Any amount truly helps, and if you’re not able to donate, sharing this means everything to us.
Thank you for taking the time to read Nelly’s story and for any support you can give. ❤️
— Brandy
