Nellie's Emergency Medical Expense

On Saturday evening, March 25th at 10pm, Joanne and I were upstairs watching a movie with our precious pup Nellie. We looked down and noticed she was bleeding profusely.

I drove her to Dayton Medvet immediately, where I was told she had a life threatening infection in her uterus and that she needed emergency surgery immediately. I was told if I could not do the surgery, that it would only be humane to euthanize her.

While the emergency vet did a great job with Nellie, I felt a bit taken back when told that the bill would be between $6,000 and $8,300 dollars.

Lately, our 11 year old daughter has become very attached to Nellie. Walking her everyday, training her new tricks, and making her clothes and accessories, as you would expect an 11 year old girl to do. There was absolutely no way I could come home and tell her that her dog had passed away in the middle of the night.

As Joanne and I are small business owners, we work very hard - but an expense like this is something we may not easily recover from.

I don't expect this bill to be paid in full by contributors as I understand owning a pet is a financial responsibility, but any little bit helps.

Currently, Nelly is home with us and slowly recovering, but she still requires a lot of care around the clock and lots of medication.
