My Medicare benefits have expired and I do not have insurance, and I am about to be discharged unless I pay $185 a day to continue the care the doctor says I urgently need. I broke both my arms when I fell on November 1st. I was in the ER, then a rehab center, then to the ER again, because I became severely dehydrated and my kidneys almost shut down due to the hospital prescribing a medicine I didn’t need. Now, I am at Stonebridge skilled nursing facility. My 21 day Medicare benefits expire on Dec 12, and the facility says that if I don’t pay $185 a day they will send me home, where I live alone. The nursing facility doctor says it would be potentially catastrophic for me to go home and I should stay at the facility until I can take care of myself at home. I am hoping to raise 20 days of care, so I can get the care I need to fully recover and go home safely.
