Nell Sutherland and Heather Sellars
Donation protected
On December 28, 2022, Nell’s sister, Heather Sellars, collapsed at their home and lay comatose on the floor until Nell came home from work that night. She was transported to the hospital where she received a CAT scan. The scan revealed a mass with blood and swelling around the brain which was believed to be brain cancer. Heather was kept sedated, with the doctors waking her up periodically to stimulate her, and placed on a ventilator until she was able to breathe on her own. On Monday, January 2 the ventilator was removed. Although Heather can breathe on her own, she is unable to speak and barely knows what is going on. On January 5 the surgeon confirmed that she has terminal brain cancer. Nell has petitioned the court for emergency guardianship so that she can work with the doctors and insurance companies to make sure that Heather receives the care that she needs and is only able to work part time.
As we all know, expenses do not stop when emergencies arise. Not only are the medical bills rising, the mortgage, car insurance and the electric bill must still be paid, regardless of the loss of income. Nell’s daughter, Heather Peaslee, and I have created this GoFundMe page to assist Nell and her sister to ease their burdens during this devasting time and to face what has yet to come. Any amount is appreciated and accepted with gratitude and love.
