Hey everyone, today marks 1.5 years since the passing of my sister Nelia, a friend, a comfort, and a light to everyone around her. Time is a funny thing with grief. It feels like you are stuck in a moment just waiting for the next second, minute, or hour, but when you look at a calendar a month has passed in the blink of an eye. The emotions you feel are unpredictable, can feel like a numbness to everything around you, or as intense as the moment you first heard of the accident. Life after something like this can be daunting, with grief hanging heavy in the air like a shroud around you. But grief is simply love with nowhere to go, and I find comfort in the thought that she is still around in her own way. Nelia was a confidant, a support, and a safe space for those in need. So, in keeping that legacy alive, myself and her close friends would like to have a commemorative bench placed in her name. Then in moments when we miss her or want to feel her comfort, there is somewhere you can go to have tea and share a moment with her once again. We are hoping to raise $2000 to cover the cost of the bench, with any extra going to a charity that aids in the conservation of the oceans and wildlife.
