Charter Club Fridge
Donation protected
For those of you who do not know me, my name is Joseph Puryear III and I am a senior in Charter. I am currently serving as a Liquid Assets Manager, Recruitment Executive, and Alumni Liaison.
While the name of the Liquid Assets Manager has changed over the year, we have all dedicated our time to helping lead and make Charter what it is today. We all have fond memories of bartending. It is an opportunity I have been honored to carry on and would like to ask that you aid me in accomplishing a goal. The current keg fridge in Charter is nearing the end of its life. The door is broken and bent. The handles are torn off. The wood flooring and metal plate below are warped beyond repair. The seal of the door is irreplaceable and struggles to keep the fridge cold. You can see the damage associated with the fridge in the pictures. One of the challenges faced with repairing the fridge is the fact that the manufacturer is out of order. In order to remedy some of these issues, we placed walk-in curtains as can be seen in the pictures. While they have helped retain the temperature, they have also made it more difficult to enter and exit the fridge.
While we have made continual efforts to keep it alive and going, I am concerned about it surviving more than 5 years. In order to repair the outdated fridge, it would cost nearly $3000-4000. With this in mind, I would like to challenge all of us to collectively work together to raise the money to donate a new fridge to Charter. The costs are estimated to be about $5500 after research and talking to Steve ($5000 for the fridge and $500 for installation). I have not brought this proposal to anyone else because I think it is a unique opportunity we have to give back to something that we were involved with during our time at Charter.
To make this challenge a legitimate goal of mine, I pledge to donate any remaining cost necessary to replace the keg fridge in two years. This means I will donate the rest of what is necessary to reach $5500 by January 1, 2021. I have given a two year buffer because I can not personally pay $5500 in less time since I am still in college. I have gone ahead and put forth $200. Please share this challenge with any others who held this position throughout the years. The donation would have to occur at one full time to be properly earmarked for the fridge. Upon reaching the goal, I will notify Steve Moskow (Club Manager), Doug Rubin (Grad Board Member/Donations Coordinator), and Dean Scott (Grad Board Treasurer). Any money that exceeds the goal of $5500 will be put towards the possibility of tap lines directly to the fridge. If this is not feasible or there is still money left over, then the rest will be put towards the Membership Assistance Fund at the Princeton Charter Club. Please donate accordingly since there is a 2.9% + $0.30/donation charge associated with GoFundMe. Feel free to contact me, if you have any questions, concerns, or feedback.
