Hi, my name is Neil and I’m not really one to use these kinds of pages as I’ve always tried my best to provide for my wife as best as I can. But due to health problems I’m now in the position where I’d like to raise money to secure my wife’s future when I’m no longer around.
Back in December 2019 I was diagnosed with stomach cancer, it was an aggressive form and that as a family we should be prepared for the worst case scenario as if treatment didn’t work I was looking at 6-9 months to live. We decided to get a second opinion as a few things weren’t adding up for us and we were taken on by the Royal Marsden hospital. After undergoing ground breaking surgery I underwent a total gastrectomy and a whipple procedure combined as they don’t usually do them together. I was given the news that my cancer margins were clear and that I was now cancer free.
Then in August my wife noticed my eyes were slightly yellow indicating I was suffering from jaundice. Since then I’ve have numerous scans and biopsy’s taken from my liver and that’s when they told me that the cancer had returned, this time its inoperable and can only be controlled by treatment so the future now doesn’t look good. If treatment isn’t successful I’ve been told that I’m looking at 12 months survival which is heartbreaking after all that I’ve had to endure.
This is where I’d like your help. My wife has been my absolute rock through all of this and she is the soul reason I’ve dug in so deep to fight this disease. My wife has always put on a brave face but deep down I know she is broken.
We have a family home and luckily for us we took out life insurance but there is going to be a shortfall. By raising the amount requested it would take the pressure and stress off of her as she wouldn’t be able to afford to stay there. It would not only be a huge weight off my entire family’s shoulders but would also mean the world to me personally if I could make the most of the what precious time I have left, safe in the knowledge that my family can remain in our family home after I have departed.
