Neil Garland, Funeral and Service Expenses

••• Please note, the service date is TBD, as it will be in Wisconsin and there are a few moving targets we have to hit in order bring his ashes back from California. •••

Our beloved Neil Garland passed away this week at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, CA on 05/02. A small service was held with some of his close friends along with his mother, Rachel, cousin Charles, and his aunt Kathy. A memorial Service with his firends in California will be held at a yet to be detemined date in June. Services for family and friends will be held in his final resting place, Monroe, Wisconsin, also in June.

At 40 years old, Neil was truly in the prime of his life. Many of his friends say Neil was ready at the drop of a hat to help anyone in any way he could. His impact among those who knew him cannot be overstated. Some owe their lives to his literal intervention. Neil had an unusual gift to encourage a person to push beyond their own shortcomings or fears to be better than they though they could be. He made people laugh (hard), in order to put the seemingly hard things in life into proper perspective. He strove to be his best as he maintained years of sobriety from addiction. This week is bittersweet because Neil is an official Organ Donor. The Hospital keeps his body on life support as they wait for compatible recipients.

We post this gofundme page as many have expressed a desire to help. Rachel is in need of assistance as she navigates the the steps to managing his estate and bringing him home to Wisconsin.

Funds will be used toward remaining medical bills, costs associated with preparation services in California, relocating his things from there to Tenessee where his mother lives, and memorial cemetary services when his ashes are brought to rest with his grandmother in Wisconsin–the weather there necessitates additional preparatoin that raises the cost above average.
