Neighborhood Apprenticeship - You Give We Match It

Tax deductible
"My work with the poor and the incarcerated has persuaded me that the opposite of poverty is not wealth; the opposite of poverty is justice." - Bryan Stevenson

Neighborhood exists as a launch pad for the talented people returning home from incarceration. However, upon that homecoming they are faced with insurmountable hurdles. As a former apprentice Marvin recently wrote...

"On the outside I faced systemic barriers: stigmas, stereotypes, lack of job opportunities, precarious housing options, food vouchers, and the denial of educational and vocational programs. All of this takes a toll. It can be even more devastating to the men and women who have taken their rehabilitation seriously, especially if they lack a support system to help them navigate this 'invisible prison'."

WHERE YOUR DONATIONS WILL GO

Neighborhood will match all donations up to $10k. We raise $10k here then $20k in total will be donated!

Your donation will go directly to supporting an apprentice. This will include their individual salary, training, counseling, and career accreditations. Neighborhood shoulders all the administrative overhead expenses - from accounting to rent to office supplies - essentially all the things everyone hates to know their money is funding.

A misconception is that we don't need additional financial support because our work covers every expense. On the contrary. Most of our work doesn't cover the cost for apprentices to travel on jobs which include airfare, meals, housing, etc. But travel is life changing for apprentices because it expands their social circle, cultural experiences, and ability to adapt to new professional environments and workflows - all growth opportunities many take for granted.

In addition, the years have taught us that more than providing a stable work environment and a supportive social network, apprentices often have ancillary needs that must be met - be it housing, transportation, former debt, a new computer, post-apprenticeship opportunities like further education or travel for interviews…the list goes on and on.

We don't want to be limited in our love and support so we ask you to join us in breaking every chain that could ever hold anyone back from being fully believed-in, fully loved, and fully successful in this world.
