Neglected & Abandoned Kitties in Hornell, NY
Donation protected
This week, we were informed of a situation in Hornell, NY. A woman was being evicted, and several cats were left outside.
We went over there and talked her into giving up a young momma with three newborn kittens that still had their umbilical cords attached.
She then said there were more cats in a second apartment. We were overwhelmed with the number of cats and kittens outside that house. The kittens were skeletal, dehydrated, covered in fleas, and anemic from those fleas. We hadn't planned on taking any cats that day (we were just scoping out the situation) but couldn't leave them behind. So we grabbed as many cats and kittens as we could. A total of 10 kittens and two mommas.
We made plans to go back over the weekend and grab any additional cats. We were able to get three more, including a kitten that is on death's door. Thank you to our friends at Hearthside Cats for taking in this baby.
We will return and try to rescue additional kitties that are skeletal and flea-infested. We will need to vet and fix all the cats we took in, as well as TNR any remaining cats that aren't adoptable.
This is a huge undertaking and one that I hadn't planned for, but I can't turn a blind eye to it.
Luckily, Barn Cat Outreach has agreed to fix several of the kitties at their 8/9 clinic. We are looking at $75 each for spay/neuter, vaccines, combo test, flea meds and microchip. So far, we have taken 15 cats, and that number will go up by a lot.
Please consider making a donation to help these poor kitties that did not ask to be born but are now suffering and need our help.
Any amount is welcomed.
Thank you so much!
