The past few months have been very difficult for the Nelson sisters; starting with Natalie being unexpectedly diagnosed with terminal stage 4 colon cancer. On January 15th 2019 Natalie had a surgery to improve the quality of her life and was put in hospice care. After a long and emotional day and night at the hospital with Natalie, Neela was in a terrible single-vehicle accident near her home at approximately 10PM.
Neela was airlifted to North Memorial Hospital in Robinsdale, MN and luckily survived the car accident with substantial injuries. She spent 6 days in the ICU, and approximately one month in the hospital in recovery where she received physical, occupational and speech therapy. Her injuries include a broken clavicle, broken ribs, broken pelvis, broken ankles, a lacerated liver, partial lung collapse, 8 cm deep wound in her left side of her back, a few broken outer spine bones, a 5 mm subdural hematoma, and traumatic brain injury.
Neela was able to come home on February 15, 2019 and still has a long road to recovery. During this time she is unable to work due to the extent of her injuries, she currently can’t use her left arm due to her broken clavicle and she cannot walk or put wait on her legs due to both ankles beings broken. Neela continues to heal and make progress every day however her recovery is going to take some time. During this time she in need of some financial assistance to help offset her bills as she is not yet able to go back to work. We are asking for continued prayers and for financial help to get her through this difficult time.
