Donation protected
Well friends as most of you may remember back in August I was taken by Ambulance to the hospital because I could hardly breath. Upon arriving the Dr ordered a C.T. scan which showed I had bilateral pulmonary embolism( blood clots in both lungs) . The Dr. decided I needed to be treated the same as they do for stroke patients, a procedure called TPA a quick thinning of the blood and breaks down the clot, Dr. asked if I coded what did I want them to do? I looked at him and said what? He said if things go bad what do you want us to do ? I looked at him and said I'm only 55 please do your best to save me... But if things go bad I am a donor and to take what you need, So they sent me to the ICU so they could start the procedure , I was going to have to be under Nurses steady care for 24 hrs , so I had a nurse in my room watching over me for the first 4 straight hrs checking my stats every 15 minutes, after 2 days in the ICU they sent me to a regular room for 2 more days. During that time they continued to give me o2 and slowly weaned me off of it by Friday. The Dr had me on blood thinners for the first 2-3 months that cost me $585 a month ... All this happened when I didn't have insurance.
Now I have been doing breathing exercises that help to improve my lung capacity which the Dr says could take up to a year before I get back up to where I should be, I've been doing some walking to help me build up my lungs too.
I have to Give a BIG shout out to the Dr's and Nurses for their exceptional care and Professionalism .
I want to also add that the hospital has been good and worked with me to help reduce the bill but with everything I have been through over the last couple of years it is getting very overwhelming . I have started to take better care of myself and have been working on losing weight, And a very good friend of Mine has been checking on me and been trying to convince me I need to stay in the game by being in a mountain bike race with him so I said I would work towards that.
Those of you that know me know that this is a very hard thing for me to do, I don't ask for help very often , I am the one that helps most people when they ask or even sometimes when they don't ask.
So I say Thanks in advance for any help
Love, Dave
