Never done this before, so this is quite humbling to ask for help.
I am a US army veteran who moved from California to OKC to start anew, life ended up going sour and I found myself homeless for roughly 7 months and needed to seek help from a program called SSFV. Now I am on a VA program called HUDVASH and have my own place (yay, me!), but on a very strict income and cannot afford the Uhaul and travel cost to get my belongings out of storage in California and transferred here to OKC.
I have a lot of family photos in my unit, aside from my furniture and other miscellaneous items, BUT my family photos are most important to me. I do not want to lose these memories, but with the storage bill ($86 per month), on top of my very fixed income it is making me very stressed out (aside from just wanting it all here). I need help and this this was referred to me by friends.
I did all the research and I think my goal is pretty legit. Costs as followed:
Plane ticket to Sacramento airport, if I were to fly out projectively in November is $284 with American Airlines, but the price obviously changes due to when it is official.
Uhaul rental is $2,077; pick up in RanchoCordova and drop off in OKC.
The gas calculator provided says 1600 miles at $450ish in gas cost.
Food and motel, since it’s roughly a 2 day trip.
$500 for emergencies.
Thank you to anyone that offers this salty vet, who is just trying to get his life back in order, any help. I just want my memories, and getting there will help further improve my way of life in moving forward.
