Need spark to fight Colon cancer for Anjali

My sincere greetings to everyone. I am Bishow Raj Shrestha from Nepal, currently living in Australia. I am reaching out on this platform for support for my sister, Anjali Shrestha, who has been bravely fighting stage 4 colorectal carcinoma for the past four years. Since her diagnosis, our life have changed dramatically, putting immense emotional and financial strain on our family.

Anjali, a warm-hearted and kind 27-year-old, likes to help others. Hence, she is pursuing a career in Registered Nurse in Nepal. In August 2021, during the COVID pandemic, she started to show symptoms of haemorrhoids. Getting medical services was difficult during that time and later it was confirmed as a Carcinoma Rectum (Stage 3). She have had multiple surgeries followed by 26 cycles of Chemotherapy and 26 episodes of Radiotherapy. For a time, follow-ups with MRI and PET scans indicated no signs of cancer spread, leading her to believe she would win her battle. However, few months ago, she started having signs of abdominal pain, constipation and blood in urine. Recent MRI report showed recurrence of tumor in her small bowel, urinary bladder and ovaries. She recently even underwent surgery, which includes ovarian transposition, lower anterior resection with protective ileostomy, for a tumour in her small intestine.

Her doctor suggested to start a newer chemotherapy as a better option which will cost around Nrs. 3,00,000 per month (about AUD $3400 per month) and has to be continued for about three to four years. So, with the ongoing treatment, repeated MRI and PET scan and cost of newer chemotherapy in the future follow ups, it's really hard to cover up the cost as belonging to a lower socioeconomic status family.

We have managed to cover her medical expenses so far, but the proposed further treatment is beyond our means as a middle-class family in Nepal. This is why I am reaching out for support. Your contributions will directly help cover her ongoing medical treatments and medications, alleviating some of the financial burden and bringing hope back into her life.

Anjali is determined to fight this disease, believing in the power of miracles. I deeply admire her strength, especially in tough times.
