IN NEED OF HOME FOR SURGICAL RECOVERY
Hello, my name is Teresa Arellano. As difficult as this is, I am reaching out humbly and honestly, to get help for my hardworking, most caring and loving husband of 32 years. We are facing a hardship during a most critical time, as I will be undergoing a Cervical Corpectomy on Oct. 27th...11days from now
                                        Our Story
Recently we moved out of a home we could no longer afford. While having no health insurance for 3 years (because my husband was self-employed and we could not afford, and my inability to work)  my condition worsened and my husband had no choice but to find employment that offered health insurance. He did find a great job with excellent health care...but with less pay and minus the medical premiums... though we are very thankful for the new job and benefits, we went into a downward spiral very quickly, losing our home and selling about 2/3 of everything we owned in our 32 year marriage. In the meantime, our son and his wife have graciously  invited us to stay with them (prior to us knowing I'd be going through surgery very soon) and we are very grateful and blessed!

In the past two weeks, it was made clear to us that surgery was an urgent matter and years overdue... I am not comfortable drawing attention to myself, but in order to explain our situation, and the urgency for this surgery (because of an old injury to  my cervical  vertabrae, caused by a car accident, and the years of cervical degeneration, my spinal cord has been severely damaged and there are pockets of fluid with the spinal cord, which is not a good thing. As it was explained to us by the neurosurgeon...if nothing is done, paralysis inevitable in time.) I have been living with severe pain for years and in just the past year I have declined to the point that I hardly am capable of doing just minimal daily household duties. I feel helpless and heavy hearted watching my husband try so hard to do all he can to provide and to care for me and do most of my duties as well. Having moved so far away from his work, it takes him nearly 1 1/2 hours each way to and from work and approx 1/2 tank of gas each day. At this rate, and paying for storage for our belongings, we are uncertain how long it might take for us to get back on our feet and back into our own place. At this point we would be grateful for a 1 bdrm apartment. Anyone who knows Tony, knows he has a big heart and always ready to help others. He loves his family and especially our grandchildren.

After just learning of the upcoming surgery and long recovery period, particulary the preparation of the home and the post-op care, we feel it's so unfair to our son's little family to burden them with the details, as they have their own lives to live, not to mention that we have taken our little grandson's bedroom and all his toys have been put away to make room for us in their 2 bdrm apartment. We feel horrible that this has changed their routine and we have invaded their space.

I fully realize we are not the only ones experiencing a hardship and my heart goes out to all who have similar or worse circumstances. I am humbly asking for help for Tony, to get us into a small apartment before I undergo surgery, so that we can be settled and prepared for the aftercare process. Where we can be closer to Tony's job to take much stress and physical strain off him, save money spent on fuel and for him to be closer to home while I recover. We would also be closer to the doctors and the hospital, as it is now, we drive very far to and from which makes it harder for him to come get me and drive me to my Dr. visits including physical therapy that will come later...as I will not be able to drive for quite some time afterward, and depend solely on him to take me to post-op appts.

I am not asking for any more than what it would take to get us through this hard time and into our own home again and we would consider it a true blessing and will be committed to paying it forward and blessing others in any possible way.

Our Goal is:         $3500-

-for help with deposit/1st mo. rent
-time off Tony will take during my hospital stay

Any help will be so greatly appreciated. At our age we apologize for having to ask, and on behalf of myself and my husband, we thank you

God bless!!
