Update as of 7/07/25- I’ve had to have IV fluids twice for being dehydrated, I haven’t been able to take in enough by mouth yet to keep my electrolytes where they need to be which in turn causes issues with my BP and HR. My surgeon says it’s going to be a long recovery. I am now able to sleep in my bed again with aid of MANY pillows. The visit with the nephrologist was uneventful, will see him again in 4 months. Have another appointment with my surgeon on 7/31- hopefully I’ll be able to get back to work soon. Thanks to everyone who has already donated to help us out and to those that will in the near future, I added a picture of the mass they took out- if you’re easily squeamish - I’m sorry
I left work on 5/22/25 in extreme pain and had some severe nausea, thinking I had kidney stones. Got home and my husband took me to the ER, they did some blood work and a CT scan- the results were positive for kidney stones but also had a very large mass in my left lower abdominal area. They then transferred me to another hospital to manage my pain and nausea and so I could see an oncology surgeon- it was CANCER- I was diagnosed with a liposarcoma that also had invaded my left kidney and a good portion of my descending colon- all would have to be removed. The surgeon- could do the surgery but at another hospital where his usual team is, so I was once again transferred to another hospital . Surgery was done on 5/30/25. All cancer was removed and I came home on 6/5/25- had my 2 week follow up appt today 6/19- was dehydrated- BP was low and HR was high- was given a liter of IV fluids. Also saw oncologist- no further treatment needed (chemo or radiation) but will have to be watched closely- every 6 months with a CT scan to be done prior to those appointments due to the type of cancer I had- it could come back. We are very humble people and never want to ask for help. My insurance at work is not so great- so we could use some additional financial help-i have applied for my short term disability but it only pays 60% of my regular pay- I’ve reached out to my HR person to see how long I can use my short term disability but haven’t heard back. But there are follow up visits, gas needed and co-pays for the appts and procedures to be done. Thank you all in advance. I am doing this with help from a long time friend Clay Spencer
