Need help with a major auto repair expense

Donation protected
Hello, I am asking for your help to get my 2000 Volvo S70 repaired. Its engine suffered a catastrophic failure last April and the car has been parked in front of my house ever since, waiting on me to save up enough money to have it repaired. Since then, and until two weeks ago, I had been driving a 2002 Ford F150 pickup truck which was loaned to me by a dear friend. Unfortunately, I was never really able to set any money aside for the Volvo's repair because the truck only got 10 to 12 miles per gallon and almost a third of my income was going into its gas tank. Then, two weeks ago, the truck was totaled in an accident. The other driver was found to be at fault for failing to yield right of way and, thankfully, I was not injured, but their insurance company determined that the cost of repair exceeded the value of the vehicle and refused to pay for its repair. This leaves me without any form of transportation and because I work as a delivery driver for a living, I am effectively out of a job until I can either purchase a replacement vehicle or get my Volvo repaired.

I launched this campaign two days ago with a goal of $3,900 so that I could purchase a 2001 Honda CRV that a friend has offered up for sale. However, since then, I have determined that I can actually get my Volvo repaired for around $2,600, about $1,300 less than I needed to buy the CRV. All things considered, I think that is a much smarter course of action: repair the car I already have for much less money than I would need to buy another one.

I have found a suitable replacement engine at VoluParts, a Volvo used parts dealer here in town that I've had good experiences with in the past. They're asking $650 for it. I also found a repair shop in Decatur that specializes in Volvos that can do the work for about $1,500 plus the cost of miscellaneous belts, hoses, fluids and such. I will also have to pay to have the engine shipped across town from VoluParts to the mechanic and have the car towed from my house in Doraville to Decatur. So some quick back-of-the-envelope calkalaytin' comes up with roughly about $2,600 to get the Volvo repaired... about two-thirds of the original $3,900 goal.

Due to these and other circumstances, I currently have no financial assets or credit with which to pay for this major repair. My only hope for getting back on the road and back on my feet as quickly as possible is by asking for your empathy, kindness and generosity.

The cover photo you see attached to this campaign was taken on the day I bought the Volvo in 2016. I have taken very good care of the car since then and it still looks as good today as it did the day this picture was taken. (Me, not so much.) As good as this car looks, it would be a true shame to not get it back up and running again.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful consideration. Your generous donation will help me get back on the road, back to work and back on my feet. Anything you can do to help will be tremendously appreciated.
