Hi everyone, I’m reaching out because our cats are in desperate need of some help right now. The past week and a half has been incredibly overwhelming for our family. We’ve had two emergency vet visits, and the costs have added up faster than we ever could have expected.
Our sweet black cat developed a severe ear infection. She scratched at it so much that it caused a large open wound, which then became infected. It’s gotten to the point where she now needs to be put under anesthesia so the vet can properly clean and close the wound with several stitches. On top of that, the vet had to send out a swab from her ears for a culture because the infection appears to be resistant to the antibiotics we've tried. We’re still waiting for answers so we can find the right treatment to help her ears heal.
As if that wasn’t enough, just a few days later our other girl Opal started going through her own emergency. We found a dark wound on her hind end, and it turned out to be a severely infected anal gland that unfortunately ruptured. It was sudden and scary, and she now also needs to go under anesthesia so the vet can properly flush and clean the wound to prevent further infection.
Both of our kitties have already received Convenia (long-acting antibiotic) injections along with pain medications to keep them as comfortable as possible, but they still have procedures and follow-up care ahead of them. Watching both of them go through this at the same time has been heartbreaking. They’re such loving, sweet girls, and it’s hard seeing them in pain and discomfort.
Between the emergency visits, procedures, testing, and upcoming treatments, the financial burden has become more than we can handle on our own right now. If you’re able to donate, share, or even just keep them in your thoughts, it would mean so much to us.
Every little bit helps, and we are so grateful for any support. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for caring about our girls. ❤️ -Vanessa & Jay
