Hi, my name is Debby and I have been listed for a heart transplant. My life changed drastically in 2023 from a deadly car accident. I should have died the way my car was hit. I suffered with symptoms for a year then on September 2024 I had another stroke while driving and hit a tree. No airbags deployed and ended up needing emergency open heart surgery to remove an embolism from behind my heart, suffering à stroke and having a heart attack for over 15 hours. I spent almost 4 months in ICU and had many complications. Found out I was allergic to heparin which caused me trumbose and had blood clots shoot through my entire body. Then ended up having emergency surgery to remove an embolism in my left arm. Almost had to get my 3 toes on my right foot amputated. Then got an ammonia and a drain tube in my lungs for 2 weeks to drain fluid on my lungs. After this I went in for a right heart cath and got admitted from end of August to October ànd put on the transplant list. During this I lost my job had to live on my savings and now had to move from KW to Toronto in order to be outpatient while I wait for transplant that can take up to a year. I am a single mom who’s daughter is going to college. I now have to sell my condo to be able to afford to live. These funds would be used for pills that aren’t covered by insurance and to be able to live until my transplant. For anyone who knows me I don’t like asking for help but I am in need for assistance. If you can help I’m forever grateful and if you cannot that’s ok I truly and grateful regardless. This has not been an easy road. I’m sorry to ask anyone for anything as I know this economy isn’t good but whatever you can do would be amazing. I will keep everyone posted on my journey. Lastly I have also been diagnosed with a benign brain tumour that causes me severe paralyzing migraines. That medication is extremely expensive and not covered by ohip. This has not been easy but I will continue to fight to help others ànd to be there for my daughter
