Need for outpatient help and emergency assistance

Donation protected
My dearest friend, Beckie, is asking for assistance in paying for her intensive outpatient program to get the help she so desperately needs. After being diagnosed with a rare autoimmune liver disease that has both been debilitating financially and physically on her body, Beckie did her best to manage the diagnosis and medication on her own, but after a significant flare-up that has left her back in the hospital, I am asking for help on her behalf. Beckie is genuinely one of the kindest, most generous, hardworking souls I know but struggles to ask others for assistance. I'm asking my community if you can spare a dollar to help pay for Beckie's treatment and living expenses during this time; I would appreciate it more than you know. Every dollar goes to help getting her life back. Beckie's story in her own words, "I was injured on the job in 08/2019. Conservative treatment followed, with ultimately a recommendation for bilateral knee surgeries by an excellent surgeon. The insurance company denied knee surgeries due to my BMI. I researched a myriad of resources and was provided a plethora of research supporting that larger-bodied individuals recovered the same, if not better, than smaller-bodied individuals with knee surgery. Regardless, the insurance system continued to deny my surgery. The requirement to lose a certain amount of weight to have the medically necessary surgery and their recommendation for bariatric surgery ultimately aggravated my pre-existing atypical anorexia. I ultimately hired an attorney to help protest the knee surgery denial. I was limited to part-time work due to the injuries and lost a considerable amount of income. Surgery for the right knee finally occurred, and I underwent that surgery on 12/29/2021, 865 days after my injury. My recovery has been good, although my left knee has gotten worse and the request for the left knee surgery was submitted and denied. (They previously approved it), again due to BMI. My employer was not able to accommodate my work restrictions and I became unemployed on 02/16/22. I have worked hard all of my life. I worked in the same industry for 21+ years and loved my job. Losing my job, income, high-quality health insurance, and love of my work have been truly debilitating. I qualify for health insurance through the state; however, to have more options for my healthcare (i.e. ED treatment, counseling, etc.), I have chosen an insurance that I need to pay for monthly (in lieu of Apple Health). In April 2021, I was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune liver disease. This requires regular monitoring to ensure that we reduce any further injury to my liver. I was recently hospitalized for 4 days due to a significant flare of the disease. My medical bills, housing insecurity, food insecurity, monthly insurance premiums, cost of medications, counseling, etc are mounting. I have visited the local food banks, and I do not qualify for food stamps. This is so humbling and eye-opening. I wake up several times a night filled with a sense of dread and anxiety. We have protested the left knee surgery denial. I believe whole-heartedly that I will be able to return to full-time employment when my knees are functioning better than today, as this alleviates the pain and stress my body is under."
