Hi my name is Sharon. In April I was diagnosed with cervical cancer. My doctors believed at that time I could have surgery and be back at work in 6 weeks. Unfortunately in June just before my surgery date they discovered the cancer had spread to my liver. My surgery was canceled and I have been on a very strong cycle of Chemo since. I have at least 2 more cycles to go. Of course I haven't been able to work through all of this. I was receiving EI sick benefits, but this week my 15 weeks ran out. I found out that I don't qualify for regular EI as I'm unable to go back to work! I still have my job to go back to when I'm well. I'm 59 and live alone I am responsible for all my living expenses rent, bills etc. I have used up all my savings in the last few months just making ends meet. CCP disability takes 8 to 12 weeks to go through. EI told me that's my option. I have 3 weeks until my rent is due. I'm fighting for my life right now.
